Most dishwasher spray arms are designed to be removed and cleaned by the owner and are therefore almost always a very easy part to replace if they are faulty.

The most common spray arms will be fitted with a nut of sorts or simple clip that is easy to release to hold them in position but still allowing them to spin freely, The spray arms must be able to rotate easily of your dishwasher will not clean the load correctly.

They will be fitted onto what is usually referred to as a spray arm support or, for many upper spray arms, a feed tube or pipe that deliveres the water pumped from the main motor or recirculation pump and it is the force of that delivery of water that drives the spray arms around.

Common faults with spray arms are that they can become blocked and cannot be cleared or that the spray arm simply wears out and water escapes degrading the performance of your dishwasher.
